Painter Technician

Job Duties:

  • Identify and resolve parts required for repair; review repair orders, work order, and Body Shop Managers estimate notes; follow warranty guidelines; notify supervisor of any repair add-ons
  • Checks parts against estimate and ensures proper parts are ordered and received
  • Maintains and wears all required safety and health personal protective equipment, including respirator, in the manner recommended by the equipment manufacturer
  • Adjust, replace, and repair all vehicle equipment (e.g., sheet metal repairs, fiberglass/ panel repairs, fabrication and structural welding, installation and alignment of body components, electrical and mechanical repairs, etc.)
  • Maintain current knowledge of job and technical skills including manufacturer’s repair process
  • Perform work as outlined on repair estimates with efficiency and accuracy in accordance with dealership and factory standards
  • Teardown and inspect for additional or hidden repairs
  • Advise body shop estimator of additional damage or supplemental needs or if repairs will not be completed on time
  • Lead work of any apprentice technicians and maintain certifications
  • Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner
  • Cooperates and assists other personnel in the repair and prepping of vehicles
  • Pre-washes all vehicles to remove dirt and debris prior to written estimates or painting. Full detailing of all repaired vehicles before vehicles leave repair facility. Daily vacuuming of paint booth and spraying down of the paint booth floor with Dust Command to aid in keeping dirt out of paint booth. Periodical painting of the paint booth floor to keep overspray granules locked down to the floor.

Qualifications:

  • Welding, suspension, framework experience a plus OR willing to learn/train
  • Damage Analysis and Estimating, Mechanical and Electrical Components, Non-Structural Analysis and Damage Repair
  • All areas of painting, prime, paint booth
  • Certifications a plus
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • 2 years experience minimum preferred
